The railroad of La Crosse & Southeastern Railway Company, hereinafter called the carrier, is a single-track standard-gauge steam railroad, located entirely within the State of Wisconsin, extending from La Crosse to Viroqua, a distance of 40.618 miles. The carrier also owns and uses 4.286 miles of yard and side tracks. Its road thus embraces 44.904 miles of all tracks.


Corporate history.—The carrier was incorporated under the general laws of Wisconsin on September 14, 1904, for the purpose of constructing a line of railroad for the conveyance of persons and property. Its principal office is located in La Crosse. The property of the carrier was operated by its own organization from the date it was placed in operation to date of valuation.
