[edit]

The property of Proprietors of Connecticut River Bridge consists of a wooden-truss, double-deck bridge, about 760 feet in length, extending across the Connecticut River at a point lying between Turner's Falls Junction and Turner's Falls, Mass. The superstructure of this bridge is 919 feet in length. The lower deck is used by the carrier under its lease agreement with the Fitchburg Railroad, which latter has a leasehold interest in the Vermont and Massachusetts, by whom the Proprietors of Connecticut River Bridge is controlled. The upper deck is used for highway purposes. No tracks are owned by the Proprietors of Connecticut River Bridge.

Corporate History

[edit]

The Proprietors of Connecticut River Bridge was incorporated under a special act of Massachusetts of June 10, 1796, for the purpose of constructing a bridge across the Connecticut River in Hampshire County.

The only records that are obtainable are a cash book dating from January, 1808, and directors' minute records dating from 1796.
