This course covers the history of sexuality in the United States from colonization to the present. Students examine the histories of topics such as birth control and reproductive rights, transgender identity, and the gay rights movement. For this course, students will read the book, The Murder of Mary Bean and Other Stories. Based on their reading of the book, they will create a Wikipedia article about the death of Berengera Caswell, a mill girl who died from complications from an abortion.
