Agreement

[edit]

User:TonyBallioni - I agree. I don't like the way the Do not bite guideline has evolved. On the one hand, some experienced editors tie themselves in knots trying to avoid being bitey, including with new paid editors, who do need to be bitten. On the other hand, I have seen multiple combative relatively new editors use Do not bite as a cudgel to hit more experienced editors who tried to caution them. I completely agree that if you have been editing Wikipedia long enough to have found the bite guideline, you are not a newbie.

Similarly, if you have been editing Wikipedia long enough to know what vandalism is, you have been editing Wikipedia long enough to know what is not vandalism, and should not Yell Vandalism to "win" a content dispute.

Would you mind if I added a comment that the guideline is really meant to be cited by experienced editor A to experienced editor B to say not to bite new editor C? Robert McClenon (talk) 00:03, 1 July 2021 (UTC)[reply]
