Bug?

@Fastily: I just noticed something strange running MTC with Transfer Mode = User (on ~40 files). After 4-5 files were transferred, I was unsatisfied of current batch transfer and I decided to stop and leave this task, closing MTC (x). After some time, when checked contribs on commons to do clean-up I noticed that file upload (transfer) continues and I was shocked. Looking at desktop, MTC was closed. Opening the Task Manager (Windows 7) I saw that some Java process keep running (probably the same process behind MTC) and I hard-killed it immediately.
 --XXN, 20:48, 28 October 2016 (UTC) P.S.: anyway MTC needs a built-in button to stop/kill/cancel the current task (optionally with the possibility to resume it), and perhaps it would be better to process uploads in some predefined known order (from newest to oldest, or backwards) for a better monitoring.

Hi XXN. Thanks for the feedback :) MTC! is betaware, and it's definitely not perfect; I'll work on getting this fixed in an upcoming version. -FASTILY 08:40, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Ok, thanks. BTW, good tool ;) --XXN, 10:21, 29 October 2016 (UTC)
Perhaps, the reported "bug" may also be caused by my machine (because currently I have some troubles with it), or not...? --XXN, 14:19, 31 October 2016 (UTC)
Unlikely, because there isn't any code in the tool that handles cancelled transfers -FASTILY 00:33, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

For other Wikipedias

Are there plans for this tool to be made available for other language editions of Wikipedia too? --XXN, 14:19, 31 October 2016 (UTC)

Not at the moment, no, but maybe in the future -FASTILY 00:33, 2 November 2016 (UTC)

Suggestion

Probably would be good if MTC will add automatically {{Transferred from|en.wikipedia|user_name_here|[[w:Wikipedia:MTC!|MTC!]]}} on the transferred file page at commons, just before {{Original description page|...}}, like in this diff. --XXN, 14:45, 1 November 2016 (UTC)

@XXN - no plans to do this currently, but if enough people ask for it then I'll definitely put it on my to-do list -FASTILY 01:51, 16 November 2016 (UTC)

MTC should preserve the original order of fields in {{Information}} when transferring, or (recommended) to re-order fields in the default/most common Commons style as is shown on commons:Template:Information. --XXN, 14:35, 11 December 2016 (UTC)

Hi @XXN, thanks for the feedback. I don't believe there are any strict requirements to maintain a specific parameter order, and so MTC! currently alphabetizes all template parameters. I'll look into doing this as an enhancement for a later release. -FASTILY 23:17, 13 December 2016 (UTC)

Thanks so much for this awesome tool - I just discovered it today! Having trouble with the second file I tried, though. I can't transfer File:BIP-investment-partners-logo.JPG, even when I disable the smart filter (it just says 0 files were transferred). Any ideas? Logan Talk Contributions 03:43, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Hi @Logan, glad you like it! If you look at the wiki-text of File:BIP-investment-partners-logo.JPG, you'll see that the {{Information}} template has been converted from {{Non-free use rationale logo}} by @XNN. Note that the original parameters have not been properly removed. I'm aware of this issue, and will have it fixed in the next version of the tool. Best, FASTILY 05:09, 11 April 2017 (UTC)

Feature request: option to transfer previous file versions

Anyway OgreBot keeps uploading all previous version and then reverts to latest version. But this is a cluttering of the upload log with one extra revision. A MTC built-in option to transfer all previous file versions would be useful. --XXN, 11:38, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Hi XXN, sure, I'll put it on my todo list. -FASTILY 19:27, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Feature request: option to add categories

It would be useful to have an option with possibility to add category(ies) to a transfer task; it's most necessary to batch transfers where is obvious that these files are part of a series. XXN, 12:26, 1 July 2017 (UTC)

Sure, I'll work on getting this in the next version. Regards, FASTILY 19:27, 1 July 2017 (UTC)
