Biased summary of the dispute/need POV disruption stopped[edit]

I'm not sure if we are allowed to change the project page, so here is a Note that for last 8 months a variety of editors, including single purpose accounts, sock puppet(s) and Anon Ips (the article now protected from latter so one or more have registered) have been engaging in massive soapboxing and, when they can't get their ways, vicious personal attacks on other editors, not to mention edit warring in the article itself. There have been complaints to ANI and one or more of these editors have been blocked for periods of time. One motivation, according to one editor, is they don't want Ron Paul discredited by being associated with right or left anarchists and they want all mention of them expunged from the article, WP:RS be damned.

Various more NPOV editors (both of more "left" and more "right" philosophy) agree with WP:NPOV: All Wikipedia articles and other encyclopedic content must be written from a neutral point of view, representing fairly, proportionately, and as far as possible without bias, all significant views that have been published by reliable sources. This is non-negotiable and expected of all articles and all editors. While a few good issues have been raised, the constant soapboxing (and past personal attacks) is very disruptive and saps energy that would better be devoted to improving the article.

We tried to get the most consistently disruptive editor banned from the article through WP:ANI maybe 6 weeks back but were told we couldn't because we hadn't tried mediation. We'd like to try it. Please respond soon or we'll have to go to WP:ANI again over his most recent WP:UNCIVIL behavior, and other problems caused by these extreme POV warriors. Thanks. Reading that Mediation Cabal is very informal, I decided to put in views that more or less reflect a few other editors of the article. Not sure if I should put my name down as requester, but will. CarolMooreDC (talk) 05:01, 25 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
