Wikipedia talk:Puffery

It's a little unclear why WP:Puffery redirects to the Wikipuffery page but WP:PUFFERY redirects to Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style/Words_to_watch#Puffery. I'd suggest that the MoS, as the more authoritative guideline, would be a better target. - Sdkb (talk) 16:26, 13 May 2019 (UTC)

Yeah, I find this confusing too. It's the first case of "WP:DIFFCAPS" I've seen for shortcuts, and I've fallen victim to it several times. "Puffery" is even the section title for MOS:PUFF/WP:PUFFERY/etc. so it's a natural shortcut to want to use. I'm going to boldly move the redirect. I browsed a sample of pages that link to WP:Puffery, and it's not clear what % of them meant to link to the essay (because it's so similar to MOS:PUFF), but there are at least some cases where the author clearly meant to link to the MOS. Fewer than 500 uses of the shortcut since its creation in 2010, and the vast majority are in archived discussions, so I hope the move will be minimally disruptive.

I also checked out pages that link to WP:PUFF, and there's a similar problem there, where there are many cases where the editor pretty clearly meant to link to the MOS (because they describe it as a policy/guideline), with the other cases being mostly ambiguous.
