Objectives[edit]

After thinking about this, IMHO the objective of this policy should be to follow closely the W3C accessibility work to the Wikipedia, that is to adapt the WAI documents ([1] [2] [3] [4]) into a policy and the Manual of Style. Therefore, it's not very important to specify the disabilities we would like to cover, that's the work done by the W3C.

WCAG 2.0 is not approved yet, and current draft is very critisized, so the policy should be mainly based in WCAG 1.0 (but adapting it to new technologies like XHTML). Probably the best option is to concentrate in Level AA, because usually it is regarded as only a little more difficult than Level A, and also Level AAA is simply too difficult to implement (and not well defined, so you cannot always verify if you have achieved level AAA or not). OK, I'll probably ask for help in a short time. Note that although I've read some articles and documents about accessibility, and device independence, I'm not an expert in the field so this draft will take me a lot of time until I collect all the info.
