Untitled[edit]

I have created the long over due notability essay, after getting some input from others in the track and field wiki community. Feel free to discuss and then edit the essay. Note that there is one numerical condition. Top 50 at the end of the year on the top in the world list. You may wander how this number was chosen. The answer is that this is approximately the number of people who compete per event in the Olympics (some events have a few more others a few less). So if you are deemed notable by showing up to the Olympics, I think that top 50 in the world seems like a very fair number (it allows people to get in who compete for very strong countries in their particular event). I have no qualms about changing this number if others have a better heuristic.MATThematical (talk) 23:52, 16 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]
