Wilhelmina (alternatively spelled Wilhelmine) is a female given name, originating from the German language and meaning "willing to protect". Wilma, Willa, Willy, Mine, Minna, Minnie and Mina are short forms of the name, and male versions include William and Wilhelm. It is also a popular name in Dutch culture, starting with queen Wilhelmina.
