Dr. William Stallings is an American author. He has authored textbooks on computer science topics such as operating systems, computer networks, computer organization, and cryptography. He also maintains as a public service the advertisement-free Computer Science Student Resource Web site.

Stallings received his doctorate in computer science from Massachusetts Institute of Technology[1]. He is currently working[2] as an independent consultant.

He has three[3] times received the award for the best Computer Science textbook of the year from the Text and Academic Authors Association.
