Wilmot, Nova Scotia

Wilmot is a community in the Canadian province of Nova Scotia, located in Annapolis County.^[1]

The community takes its name from Wilmot Township, one of the early subdivisions of Annapolis County. The township was named after Montague Wilmot.^[2]^[3] The township was granted in 1764 to New England settlers and by 1827 had a population of 2294.^[4]

The community was settled by Loyalist Timothy Ruggles and Major Samuel Vetch Bayard.^{[citation needed]}
