Witold Rowicki
Witold Rowicki (true surname Kałka, 26 February 1914 in Taganrog – 1 October 1989 in Warsaw) was a Polish conductor. He held principal conducting positions with the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra[1] and the Bamberg Symphony Orchestra.
Witold Lutoslawski's Concerto for Orchestra was dedicated to him.
His recordings include:
- all symphonies of Antonín Dvořák,[2]
- works of Wojciech Kilar[3]
- the Violin Concerto of Mieczysław Karłowicz[4]
- various works of Karol Szymanowski.[5][6]
- Schumann and Prokofiev piano concertos with Sviatoslav Richter, Mozart piano concertos with Ingrid Haebler
