Okada averaged 8.9 points per game the Japanese team at the 2009 championship, including a game-high 30 points on 10 3-pointers in a 148-45 preliminary round victory over Sri Lanka.[2] Despite his performance, Japan stumbled to a disappointing tenth place finish, its worst ever performance in 24 FIBA Asia Championship appearances.
