Zabol (زابل) (31°01′48″N 61°29′42″E / 31.030°N 61.495°E / 31.030; 61.495) is a city in the province Sistan and Baluchistan, in Iran, on the border with both Afghanistan and Pakistan.

It had an estimated population of 128,476 in 2005.[1]

Zabol is located near the Hamoon Lake and its area is irrigated by the Hirmand River. People of Zabol are Persian-speaking Shi'ites.Some of the tribes of this area are , Arbabi,Barani,Sarani,Fakhireh,Mir,Dahmardeh,Shahraki,Sanchooli,Pahlavan,Faghiri, Divaneh,Nohtani,Sayyadi and .... These days, the tribes exist as surnames of the inhabitants of the area.

Zabol area is famous for its "120 day wind" (bād-e sad-o-bist-roz), a highly persistent dust storm in the summer which blows from north to south.

Zabol University is the largest university of the city, and the city has a regional airport.

The hero of Zabol is Rostam, depicted by Ferdowsi in his epic poem Shahnameh, one of the most important works of Persian literature.
