This user is asking to be unblocked to request a change in username.

Amit at JIMSK (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Requested username:

Request reason:
I see 3 reasons for my block: 1) sockpuppetry, which isn't correct: my previous account (Jims.kj) was softblocked for account name only, which means creating a new account was legitimate; 2) promotional username, which is instantly fixed with a simple renaming that I'm requesting; 3) promotional editing, which, if there was any, wasn't intentional: I'm willing to work within Wikipedia's guidelines (disclose the COI, use reliable sources, etc. as instructed by some very helpful editors at the help channel) and I think it already shows my good faith that I posted the article in my sandbox for review instead of creating it directly in the mainspace. I must say I don't believe just outright blocking me was correct and I'm actually quite upset.

Administrators should consider discussing any unblock with the blocking administrator (see the blocking policy).

Administrator use only:

If you ask the blocking administrator to comment on this request, please replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un on hold | 1=blocking administrator | 2=Amit at JIMSK | 3=I see 3 reasons for my block: 1) sockpuppetry, which isn't correct: my previous account (Jims.kj) was softblocked for account name only, which means creating a new account was legitimate; 2) promotional username, which is instantly fixed with a simple renaming that I'm requesting; 3) promotional editing, which, if there was any, wasn't intentional: I'm willing to work within Wikipedia's guidelines (disclose the COI, use reliable sources, etc. as instructed by some very helpful editors at the help channel) and I think it already shows my good faith that I posted the article in my sandbox for review instead of creating it directly in the mainspace. If you accept the unblock request, replace this template with the following:

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=Amit at JIMSK | reason=I see 3 reasons for my block: 1) sockpuppetry, which isn't correct: my previous account (Jims.kj) was softblocked for account name only, which means creating a new account was legitimate; 2) promotional username, which is instantly fixed with a simple renaming that I'm requesting; 3) promotional editing, which, if there was any, wasn't intentional: I'm willing to work within Wikipedia's guidelines (disclose the COI, use reliable sources, etc. as instructed by some very helpful editors at the help channel) and I think it already shows my good faith that I posted the article in my sandbox for review instead of creating it directly in the mainspace. I must say I don't believe just outright blocking me was correct and I'm actually quite upset. | accept=Allowing username change to requested username. Please select an option from [[Wikipedia:Changing username]] and file a request as soon as possible to avoid re-blocking. ~~~~}}

If you decline the unblock request, replace this template with the following, replacing {{subst:Decline reason here}} with any specific rationale. If you do not edit the text after "decline=", a default reason why the request was declined will be inserted.

{{unblock-un reviewed | 1=Amit at JIMSK | reason=I see 3 reasons for my block: 1) sockpuppetry, which isn't correct: my previous account (Jims.kj) was softblocked for account name only, which means creating a new account was legitimate; 2) promotional username, which is instantly fixed with a simple renaming that I'm requesting; 3) promotional editing, which, if there was any, wasn't intentional: I'm willing to work within Wikipedia's guidelines (disclose the COI, use reliable sources, etc. as instructed by some very helpful editors at the help channel) and I think it already shows my good faith that I posted the article in my sandbox for review instead of creating it directly in the mainspace. I must say I don't believe just outright blocking me was correct and I'm actually quite upset. | decline={{subst:Decline reason here}} ~~~~}}
  • When he says "previous" in his unblock request, he means previous in relation to the Kalkaji.jims account, which is the one he was using at the time he came to the help channel requesting assistance. He's not lying when he says he was just a confused new user in the section below; the degree of confusion was indeed quite substantial though it would seem we've managed to largely deal with it. 78.28.45.127 (talk) 12:06, 14 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]

My other accounts

I want to add this to my unblock request. Here is a list of my other accounts: Kalkaji.jims, Jimskalkaji. I thought it was okay to create them after the softblock and I'm sorry. I won't create more, I was just new to Wikipedia and confused. I know the rules now. Amit Gupta 11:48, 14 June 2018 (UTC)

June 2018

Welcome to Wikipedia. Because we have a policy against usernames which give the impression that the account represents a group, organization or website, I have blocked this account; please take a moment to create a new account with a username that represents only yourself as an individual and which complies with our username policy or request a change of username.

You should also read our conflict of interest guideline and be aware that promotional editing is not acceptable regardless of the username you choose.

If your username does not represent a group, organization or website, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page.

You may simply create a new account, but you may prefer to change your username to one that complies with our username policy, so that your past contributions are associated with your new username. If you would prefer to change your username, you may appeal this username block by adding the text {{unblock-un|new username|reason=Your reason here ~~~~}} at the bottom of your talk page. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. Thank you. stwalkerster (talk) 11:15, 6 June 2018 (UTC)[reply]
