- Where is the issue taking place?
- 2006 Israel-Lebanon conflict
- Who's involved?
- George.Saliba, Iorek85, and Shamir1
- What's going on?
- Basically the dispute is over the inclusion or exclusion of a statement in the article's infobox, stating that the majority of the Lebanese citizens killed were civilians. The user Shamir1 believes that news articles cited that state such are not reliable as he assumes that they rely on local authorities. I believe that the news articles are entirely reliable, as many of them don't cite "local authorities" as the source for their figure, and the claim is widely reported.
- What would you like to change about that?
- Well, I'd like to see the statement included in some form. I, along with Iorek85, have tried to reach consensus with Shamir1, but he doesn't seem very interested, or at least accepts his own view as consensus despite others disagreeing with him. I've suggested an alternative which I believe to be a neutral compromise, but the user wasn't interested in that either. I'd also like to get any comments on the articles talk page, as I've filed an RfC.
- Would you prefer we work discreetly? If so, how can we reach you?
- You can leave messages on my Talk page.
Mediator response
[edit]The suggestion from the RfC page is that a whole section be added to the discussion of this topic i.e. death ratios, because its inclusion in an infobox is far too difficult to summarise. Therefore I'd recommend trying that first. Jem 18:10, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
