Jim Brandt (politician)
Jim Brandt is a Californian who has run for Congress twice in the 46th District. Brandt served as a Naval aviator in the Marine Corps during the Vietnam War, as a Captain. He later founded and was CEO of Pyramid Software, a company that developed and distributed software. He currently serves as practice manager with a technology consulting company. He provided IT support for 12,000 people while serving as Chief Operating Officer for Security Pacific Computer Solutions (Security Pacific Bank was the fifth largest bank in the United States at the time).
He was defeated by Dana Rohrabacher in November 2006 by a 59.0-37.4 margin (with Libertarian Dennis Chang taking the remaining 3.6%). Neither had any opponent in the June primary. The two faced each other in the 2004 elections, with Rohrabacher defeating Brandt by a 62.0-32.5 margin (a Libertarian and a Green split the remaining 5.5%). As of November 9, 2006, there has been no word from Brandt on whether he will make another attempt to unseat Rohrabacher in 2008.
