Your edits on Yas

[edit]

Greetings, please bear in mind that Wikipedia articles must be neutral, so sentences such as "YAS is the voice of his generation" are not part of what WP does. The article as it existed before your edits had proper redirects, a "notability" tag indicating that references have not been given proving the subject's WP:NOTABILITY (still the case), and functioning categories. I'm reverting the article (again) back to the version prior to your edits. Your contributions could be very helpful, but they still have to follow basic Wikipedia procedures for neutrality and footnoting. MatthewVanitas (talk) 06:32, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Matthew this is representative for YAS the artist page. I request that instead of erasing (reverting) all my work, mention what needs to be reworked on! The information on YAS that is on this page is wrong and needs to be updated and no one has that information to add other than myslef. As often as I visit Wikipedia, this is my first experience in editing or adding a page. If you can assist me with this great. If not, delete the whole page as I prefer no information out there instead of outdated and fale information!

If there is inarguably false information, feel free to delete it. If there is information that is suspect, in your editing add the terms {{dubious}} or {{cn}} at the end of the sentence. That will give someone time to prove it before you delete it. A couple things to bear in mind:
  • You can't say things like "Yas is the greatest rapper ever", etc. since it's opinion and not objective fact, but you can put in things like "Yas won the Such and Such Award for Music Excellence", etc. to indicate recognition.
  • All info on WP should be backed up by footnotes, which you can add by putting <ref> and </ref> tags around footnotes. Take a glance at some other articles' editing text to see how footnotes are added. You don't need to footnote every sentence, but neither do you just write a whole article with no reference to outside works. Forums, blogs, MySpace, etc. don't count, you want to use statements from newspapers, magazines, etc.
  • Since this an encyclopedia, you do have to be selective about how much info you put in. Not every single album needs to be discussed in detail, or every aspect of someone's life. So stick to the main "key facts" about Yas rather than get caught up in all the details.

Hope this helps. Oh, and you can "sign" your comments on Talk and Discussion pages by typing ~~~~ at the end of your entries. MatthewVanitas (talk) 07:21, 15 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]
