The beetle genus Rhinorhipus contains a single species, Rhinorhipus tamborinensis from Queensland, Australia. It is the sole member of the family Rhinorhipida and superfamily Rhinorhipoidea, estimated to have split from other beetles around 200 million years ago, being the earliest diverging member of the Elateriformia.[1][2]
