Akin Gump's work has been recognized by leading legal media and rating publications and organizations. In 2010, the firm was ranked as one of the nation's top 20 corporate law firms by Corporate Board Member In the same year—and for the third year in a row—Akin Gump was named to The National Law Journal's "Appellate Hot List".[1] of firms "with stellar records in appellate advocacy." Following comparable honors in 2008 and 2009, the firm was honored as "Law Firm of the Year" and for "Distressed Financing Deal of the Year" and "Consumer and Retail Products Deal of the Year" by The M&A Advisor at that publication's Middle-Market Financing Awards.[2]

Yale Law Women, the largest student organization at Yale Law School, named Akin Gump to its 2007 list of Top 10 Family Friendly Firms. The Minority Corporate Counsel Association presented Akin Gump with the 2007 Thomas L. Sager Award in recognition of the firm's commitment to diversity. (The firm won the award three times previously.)
