Al-Mutawakkil I (Arabic: المتوكل على الله الأول) was an Abbasid Caliph of Cairo, Egypt for the Mamluk Sultans between 1362 and 1383.

The global Muslim population had climbed to about 8 per cent as against the Christian population of 14 per cent by 1400.
