Rome, the largest comune of Italy, have several administrative subdivisions: Municipi which divided the whole comune into 15 Municipio. The inner city or Municipio I, was further divided by rione‎ (plural rioni). The city or the comune also have quarters (quartieri) for the middle ring of the city, as well as zone (zona) and suburbs (suburbi) for the outer ring. They were assigned with serials that start with Q., Z. and S. respectively. There were separate urban zones (zone urbanistiche) for the territory for statistical, planning and management functions.
