Scope change[edit]

Per Wikipedia:Categories for discussion/Log/2021 September 1 § Category:Black people shot dead by law enforcement officers in the United States, this category was renamed to use the term "African Americans" rather than "Black people". Does that mean that if a particular dark-skinned person who was shot dead by a law enforcement officer in the United States was not a U.S. citizen (e.g., a visitor from Africa) or was not of African descent (for example, a Melanesian person), the article about that person should be removed from the category? — BarrelProof (talk) 17:40, 13 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Yes. These are not African Americans. Dimadick (talk) 17:46, 16 September 2021 (UTC)[reply]
This was discussed at CFD with consensus to set up a separate category for people of African descent. – Fayenatic London 17:03, 28 November 2021 (UTC)[reply]
