Nitin kumar Gupta is an award winning Indian film director, producer, and music composer known for his work in Hindi cinema.

Early life and education[edit]

Nitin kumar Gupta graduated with a medical degree from the prestigious King Edward Memorial Hospital and Seth Gordhandas Sunderdas Medical College in Mumbai, India. He left his medical career to pursue creative professions.[1]

Music[edit]

Nitin Kumar Gupta is a composer and lyricist known for his work in Hindi cinema, collaborating with various playback singers. He has also made notable contributions to Indian online content for children. From 2013 to 2024, Gupta composed and wrote over 1000 songs for YouTube channels, including "Bob the Train," "Farmees," and "Junior Squad." These channels have collectively garnered over 100 billion views, establishing Gupta as a significant figure in Indian children's digital entertainment.[2][3][4][5]

Filmmaking[edit]

Nitin Kumar Gupta has directed and produced multiple films that have earned him accolades:

  • His film Road to Sangam (2010) won him the Best Foreign Film Original Score award at the Los Angeles Reel Film Festival.[6]
  • Sayonee (2020), an action thriller shot in Russia and Dubai, starring Tanmay Ssingh, won Gupta the Filmfare and Midday Icon Awards for Best Debut and Entertainer.[7]
  • L.A.C. (2020), based on Indian border forces, is the Hindi film industry's first single-shot film. Gupta conducted an extensive recce to shoot it in the challenging terrain of Kargil.[8][9]
  • Love in Ukraine (2022), a film about an Indian student who falls in love with a Russian girl, was shot in Ukraine with support from President Volodymyr Zelensky's government.[10] The film's female lead and other actors were stuck in the Ukraine-Russia conflict zone during production.[11]
  • Walk (2023), starring Rahul Roy and Archana Puran Singh, filmed during India's pandemic lockdown, portrays the struggles of migrant workers. It won over 50 awards including the Best Feature Film Award at the Jammu Film Festival and several other festivals.[12]

Gupta is known for taking on ambitious projects and pushing boundaries. When actor Rahul Roy suffered a brain stroke while shooting L.A.C., Gupta supported his recovery.[13] He also holds the rights to make a film on the 1982 hit Disco Dancer and is working on a sequel titled Disco Dancer 2.[14] [15] [16] [17] Additionally, Gupta holds the rights to make a film on the adult comic character Savita Bhabhi.[18]
