Rory Watts (born 15 March 1985), is a British entrepreneur, charity founder and electronic musician. He is the chief executive officer of noc™,[1] founder of the charity Good Story and an electronic music producer known as SoLow Sound System.[2] He is best known for founding Good Story following significant coverage in the British media of the loss of his sister in a snowboarding accident.[3][4] He is also the author of the self-help book Grief, Gratitude & Sanity (2022).[5]

Career[edit]

Watts founded the tech company noc™ in 2022,[6] following a decorated career in software design.[7]

Charity[edit]

In 2012, Watts founded Good Story, a charity helping young people build a business using their creative talents.[8] The charity helped to launch over 20 new businesses in two years.[9] In 2014, he organised the Good Story Festival of Creativity in Suffolk, UK.[10] [11] In 2020, he formed the MH 2.0 community in response to the closure of Moreton Hall Preparatory School. The community campaigned for the continued provision of education from the school's property.[12] In 2022, he founded the New River Regatta in north London, which takes place along the New River in Finsbury Park and raises money for charitable causes.[13]

Music[edit]

Known artistically as SoLow Sound System or SoLow, Watts appeared as a house and techno DJ in the 2020s, performing in London nightclubs Ministry of Sound,[14] Pacha[15] and Egg[16]. He made his musical debut with the EP Battle Colours (2020). The release includes samples of the Latvian State Academic Choir featured in the BBC's version of War & Peace.[17]
