Evans High School is a large high school in the Evans / Martinez area of Augusta, Georgia. Evans High School is a public suburban high school that serves a diverse population of approximately 2,000 students in grades 9-12. Evans provides a varied curriculum, including specialized vocational, athletic, special education, gifted, tutoring, and advanced placement programs. Evans mainly focuses on improving student instruction, by motivating students to learn, improving thinking and reasoning capabilities, and also applying the knowledge and the reasoning with technology.
Evans has maintained regional SACS accreditation throughout its history and has received the School of Excellence Blue Ribbon Award four times, 1984-1985, 1995-1996, 1993-1994, and 2003-2004.
Extra Curricular Activities
At Evans High School there are many of extracurricular activities for students to choose from. Band, Chorus, Clubs, Drama Team, and Athletics are just some of the activities that are available at Evans High School.
Notable alumni
Notable alumni of Evans High School include:
- Zack Minter, Carried Evans High School through the 2008 baseball season and through the Elite 8, which hasn't been seen in years. 2009 Graduating Class. Currently in Literature class not doing the essay that we should be doing, at Augusta State University with TheChase Cullinan.
- Hunter Foster, American musical theater actor/singer, librettist and playwright.
- Todd Greene, Major League Baseball catcher for the San Diego Padres #20[2]
