Fjarðabyggð ("fjords-settlement") is a municipality located in eastern Iceland, in Austurland.
As of January 2011, it had a total population of approximately 4,600, and is hence the 10th most populous municipality in Iceland.

The municipality was formed in 1998 with the union of the former municipalities of Eskifjörður, Neskaupstaður and Reyðarfjörður.[3]
Geography [edit]
The total area of the municipality is 1,163 km2 (449.04 sq mi). It is composed by the following villages:
