Fugro N.V. is a Dutch multinational company headquartered in Leidschendam. The current president is K.S. Wester.

Fugro provides geotechnical, survey and geoscience services to oil, gas, mining and construction industries. In 2011, Fugro earned over 2.5 billion euros in revenue, and is traded on the Euronext Stock Exchange.[2]

The Starfix and Skyfix DGNSS systems are operated by Fugro, and provide correction information to GPS and GLONASS navigation and survey systems. These systems are also called Seastar (for dynamic positioning) and Omnistar (for land).

Controversies

In January 2009 the independent news service "Norwatch"[3] revealed seismic oil explorations offshore occupied Western Sahara, an area occupied by Morocco, by Fugro-Geoteam (a Norwegian daughter company of Fugro NV).

On April 1, 2011 a Fugro Aviation Canada Limited CASA C-212 (registration C-FDKM) carrying three crew crashed while attempting a landing at the airport in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada. After declaring an emergency with an engine failure, the aircraft crashed on a Saskatoon street (Wanuskewin Drive) and hit a concrete sound barrier. One passenger, Laroslav Gorokhovski, was killed. The pilot and co-pilot were injured but survived.[4]
