Joseph Cooney (born 28 March 1991) is an Irish hurler who currently plays as a centre-forward for the Galway senior team.

Cooney made his first appearance for the team during the 2012 championship but has failed to break onto the starting fifteen. An All-Ireland medalist at minor level, he has also won a Leinster medal at senior level.[1] Cooney's father, Joe, was a double All-Ireland senior medalist with Galway.
