MV Pacific Dream is a cruise ship owned by Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. and operated by Pullmantur Cruises. She was built in 1990 at Meyer Werft in Papenburg, Germany for Celebrity Cruises as MV Horizon.[2][1]
Service history
The vessel was constructed for Celebrity Cruises, who operated the vessel as the Horizon. The vessel's service with Celebrity ended in September 2005, when it was transferred to Island Cruises. The ship underwent refits over the end of 2005 and the beginning of 2006, and was operating out of Palma de Mallorca in the Mediterranean Sea as the Island Star in summer and from Caribbean in winter season of 2008. It advertised cruising as "relaxed, friendly, and informal".
On 6 October 2008 Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. (RCL), the owner of the Island Star, sold their 50% interest in Island Cruises to First Choice Holidays[3]. Due to this the charter of the Island Star to Island Cruises will end in April 2009 and was then reported to be transferred to the fleet of RCL's Spain-based subsidiary Pullmantur Cruises, although reports in May of 2009 say that Pullmantur will not be operating the ship, instead, she will go to another Royal Caribbean company, CDF Croisières de France, although precise details of this have yet to be released.[2] In May 2009 pictures of the ship in Pullmantur Cruises colors and renamed Pacific Dream.
