Mokhvor (Persian: مخور, also Romanized as Makhūr and Mokhūr; also known as Makhor, Mokhūr-e Qareh Qūyūn, Mūkhor, Mukhur, Mukhuri, and Mūkhvor)[1] is a village in Qarah Quyun-e Jonubi Rural District, Qarah Quyun District, Showt County, West Azerbaijan Province, Iran. At the 2006 census, its population was 2,603, in 524 families.[2]

Name

According to Vladimir Minorsky, the name Mūkhor is derived from the Mongolian word muqur meaning "obtuse, short".[3]: 77
