American legislative district
North Carolina 's 42nd Senate district is one of 50 districts in the North Carolina Senate . It has been represented by Republican Dean Proctor since 2020.[ 1]
Geography
Since 2013, the district has covered all of Catawba and Alexander counties. The district overlaps with the 89th, 94th, and 96th state house districts. Starting in 2023, the district will cover part of Mecklenburg County .[ 2]
