[edit] Formation
Proxies was formed in the summer of 2010, by songwriters Jordan Fish and Joseph Todd, later recruiting drummer Alex Binnington. They gained significant attention quickly through the use of social media platforms such as Twitter, Tumblr and Facebook, with founding member Fish distributing demo tracks the band had recorded in the form of free downloads. [1] The band collaborated with other artists during this period, such as hip hop/nerdcore artist YTCracker featuring on one of their earliest demos, and Sean Smith of The Blackout providing guest vocals on their debut single; "If I Had A Penny To My Name".
In autumn of 2010, Proxies performed their first live shows as guests for select dates on English rock band Canterbury's tour, and followed up by playing support shows for Hadouken!'s concerts, scheduled between the latter band's dates on Pendulum's Immersion Tour. The band have considered to use social media outlets to promote themselves, and have garnered a considerable following online, particularly through Fish's Twitter account.[2] On November 13, 2011, their upcoming debut single, "If I Had A Penny To My Name", received its debut airplay on BBC Radio Humberside.[3]
[edit] Live Performances
Proxies have toured and performed with the likes of Kids In Glass Houses, Patrick Stump,[4] Hadouken![5] and Metronomy[6] as well as completing a series of headline shows in January 2011.[7]
