Puračić (Cyrillic: Пурачић) is a village in the municipality of Lukavac, Bosnia and Herzegovina.[1]
Puračić is one of the most famous villages in Bosnia and Herzegovina. It is known for its popular fun fair.
History[edit]
Puračić in its distant past was a station on a road from Tuzla over Visoko to Istanbul. Because of that, it was a very important road as a center where trading took place.
The Puračić Market[edit]
One of the villages oldest traditions, it still sticks around even today, is a market every Thursday. Surprisingly, the appearance of the market has only one story: The Ottoman Empire, one Thursday in the middle of October, 1824., decided to open it for the first time. The man behind it was Husein-kapetan Gradašćević.
From the very beginning the market was considered one of the cheapest and best ones in the South-East parts of Bosnia. It was also very well known for its animal market, as, very often, butchers from Sarajevo went to the market.
