The 20823 / 20824 Puri - Ajmer Express is an express train belonging to Indian Railways East Coast Railway zone that run between Puri and Ajmer Junction in India.[1]

Service[edit]

It operates as train number 20823 from Puri to Ajmer Junction and as train number 20824 in the reverse direction, serving the states of Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh & Odisha . The train covers the distance of 2,476 km (1,539 mi) in 43 hours 35 mins approximately at a speed of (57 km/h (35 mph)).[2]

Coaches[edit]

The 20823 / 20824 Puri–Ajmer Junction Express has one AC 2-tier, three AC 3-tier, nine sleeper class, seven general unreserved & two SLR (seating with luggage rake) coaches . It carries a pantry car.

As with most train services in India, coach composition may be amended at the discretion of Indian Railways depending on demand.

Route and halts[edit]

The train runs from Puri via Khurda Road Junction, Bhubaneswar, Angul, Sambalpur Junction, Balangir, Titlagarh Junction, Raipur Junction, Durg, Nagpur Junction, Wardha, Badnera, Bhusaval Junction, Nandurbar, Surat, Vadodara Junction, Ahmedabad Junction, Abu Road, Marwar Junction to Ajmer Junction.

Traction[edit]

As this route is going to be electrified, a Vadodara Loco Shed / Visakhapatnam Loco Shed based WAP-7 electric locomotive pulls the train from Puri up to Vadodara Junction, then a Bhagat Ki Kothi Loco Shed based WDP-4 / WDP-4B / WDP-4D diesel locomotive pulls the train to its destination i.e, Ajmer Junction.
