"Súbeme la Radio"
Song

"Súbeme la Radio" (English: "Turn Up the Radio") is a song by Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias featuring the Puerto Rican duo Zion & Lennox and the Cuban singer Descemer Bueno.[1] It is the lead single from Enrique's upcoming studio album. The song was released on 24 February 2017.[2]

Background

After two bilingual studio albums, Euphoria and Sex and Love, with Iglesias concentrating more on Latin genre, with the songs "El Perdón", a collaboration with Nicky Jam, and "Duele el Corazón", featuring Wisin, receiving high successes worldwide and positive reviews from critics, Iglesias released yet one more hit in the same genre. The song is written by Iglesias, Descemer Bueno and the duo Zion & Lennox. This is the second collaboration between Iglesias and Descemer Bueno, following the huge commercial success of the hit "Bailando" in 2014.

There is a remix featuring Cuban singer Jacob Forever instead of Zion & Lennox. Another remix featuring Latin American pop boy band CNCO. A salsa version of the song was recorded with Puerto Rican singer Gilberto Santa Rosa.[3] An Spanglish remix, featuring Jamaican singer Sean Paul, replacing Descemer Bueno and Zion & Lennox, was released.[4] This version was sent to US contemporary hit radio on July 25, 2017.[5] There is also another Spanglish remix, which features Paul and English singer Matt Terry, singing the second verse, instead of Iglesias.[6]

Music video

On his official Facebook account, Iglesias teased that the single would be released on 24 February 2017, along with the music video, which was filmed in Cuba.[7][8] The video features Iglesias with the guest artists inside and on top of a bus at different scenes. It shows Enrique falling in love with a Cuban woman and he follows her through the streets. It also features a big crowd participation surrounding the performers as they sing and dance along with them.

Chart performance

The song topped the Spanish chart, becoming Iglesias's eight number one hit on that chart.[9] It also peaked at number two on the US Hot Latin Songs chart.[10] The song was also successful in South and Central America as well as in Europe. "Súbeme La Radio" sold 12,000 downloads in the tracking week ending March 2, according to Nielsen SoundScan, prompting a number one debut on the Latin Digital Song Sales chart, becoming Iglesias' highest first-week sales on the chart. "Duele el Corazón" was his previous best when it arrived with 7,000 downloads.
