Sad Love Story, romanized as Seulpeun Yeonga, and also known as Sad Sonata (its literal translation and the alternate official title) is a Korean romantic drama, which ran from January 5, 2005 to March 17, 2005. It was distributed by MBC, which ran episodes on Wednesdays and Thursdays every week until the show's completion. It consist of 20 episodes and has been a major part of the Korean Wave both in Asia and throughout the United States.
Synopsis
A young man and a blind girl fall in love from their childhood days and plan to marry, but plans have been made for her to go to America. The young man aims to become a guitarist, but suddenly can no longer take the exam. At this time he has a dramatic reunion with the girl from his childhood, but she has become engaged to his best friend. Thus began the four-sided romantic drama.
Production
This drama was originally supposed to have actor Song Seung Hun play Gun-woo. However, a draft-dodging scandal involving Song Seung Hun broke out, causing him to enlist in the military service. On short notice, Yun Jung Hoon was selected as Song Seung Hun's replacement to play Gun-woo.[1]
