Sean Harland Murray (born November 15, 1977) is an American actor. He is best known for playing Timothy McGee in the CBS television drama NCIS and Danny Walden in the military drama JAG.

Murray was born in Bethesda, Maryland, outside Washington, D.C. He spent his childhood near Coffs Harbour in New South Wales, Australia, and holds dual citizenship in the U.S. and Australia.[1] His mother is Vivienne Bellisario, fourth wife of American television producer and screenwriter, Donald Bellisario, making him Bellisario's stepson.

Murray's television credits include a starring role in the UPN sitcom The Random Years and a supporting role as teenager Zane Grey Hart in CBS's comedy/western series, Harts of the West, with Beau Bridges as his father and Harley Jane Kozak as his mother. Lloyd Bridges also starred in the series. The program was set on a dude ranch in Nevada. Mark Harmon, star of NCIS, appeared in a 1993 episode of Harts of the West entitled "The Right Stuff" in the role of a rodeo clown.
Murray has made several television guest appearances, including ER. In addition, Murray has appeared in several feature films including Hocus Pocus (in which he played Thackery Binx), This Boy's Life, and in Todd Field's Too Romantic.

Several of Murray's relatives have ties to NCIS. Murray is the stepson of NCIS creator Donald Bellisario; his younger brother Chad W. Murray is a producer. Moreover, Murray's mother Vivienne appeared in season one of NCIS as the Mysterious Redhead usually seen with Leroy Jethro Gibbs, and Sarah McGee, the sister of Murray's character, is played by his stepsister Troian Bellisario. Murray married Carrie James on November 26, 2005. They had their first child, a daughter named Caitlyn Melissa Murray, on May 3, 2007.[2] The couple's second child, River James Murray, was born in Los Angeles on April 22, 2010.[3]
In the fourth season commentary of NCIS, Murray revealed that his father, Craig Murray, was once the Executive Officer (XO) of the U.S. Navy aircraft carrier USS Enterprise.
