Next Encounter is a first-person shooter with both single and multi-player modes. The single-player story mode sends the player through various historical settings to face legions of monsters.[citation needed] The two multi-player modes consist of a deathmatch mode and a cooperative gameplay version of the story mode.[1]
Reception
Next Encounter has received mixed reviews, with an average score of 65 on Metacritic.[2] GameInformer scored it 78%, saying "Hidden levels, new features, and cheats all await the dedicated gamer. However, it will take a seriously patient player to not only finish the game, but to go back and earn the gold medals."[3] GameSpot scored it 65%, saying "If you can forgive the game's dated-looking graphics, its rather basic gameplay model, and its comparative level of ease...you can have a good time with Serious Sam: Next Encounter."[4]
