Shenzhen Ruby F.C. (simplified Chinese: 深圳红钻足球俱乐部; traditional Chinese: 深圳紅鑽足球俱樂部), previously named Shenzhen Asia Travel, Shenzhen Xiangxue Eisiti, Shenzhen Kingway, Shenzhen Jianlibao, and Shenzhen Ping'an, is a Chinese Super League football club, playing at the Shenzhen Stadium in Shenzhen, Guangdong province. They are owned by Wan Hongwei, who bought out the club in February 2009. Their head coach is Philippe Troussier.

They caused an upset by winning the first ever Chinese Super League season despite financial problems. Their coach Zhu Guanghu was subsequently awarded the coach of the year award and was appointed head coach of the national team.

Since Zhu's departure for the national team, however, the team has fallen from grace and only managed a twelfth placing (third from bottom) in the second season. The new coach was Chi Shangbin, who led the team into the 2005 AFC Champions League, but resigned due to player power, especially from then-captain Li Weifeng and senior player Yang Chen. Chi was unhappy due to the senior players' influence over the team and excessive gambling and tried to regain control of the squad, but Li Weifeng punched out Chi's office window and Yang Chen repeatedly told Chi of the uselessness of his efforts. Despite the chaos, Shenzhen famously reached the semifinals after defeating Saudi Arabian side Al-Ahli after losing the first leg in Jeddah. They were heavily defeated by UAE champions Al Ain FC in the semifinals. [dubiousdiscuss]

On January 21, 2009, Shenzhen F.C. was taken over by a Hong Kong investor who gained control by acquiring 51% of the club's stock, with the remaining 49% to be transferred in the next 6 months for a complete takeover. Shenzhen native Fan Yuhong was appointed as the new chairman. Fan will also take control as head coach of the team for a more hands-on approach.[1] On February 28, 2009, Fan Yuhong revealed that the new owners of the club are two main shareholders of China Motion, a publicly listed company in Hong Kong. However, this later turned out to be fake news. Shenzhen are also in talks with a new shirt and name sponsor, which will help further stabilize and secure the club's long term finances.
