State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan, is widely considered to be the oldest museum currently functioning in modern Uzbekistan. The museum's main purpose is to show the beauty of Uzbekistan's nature, as well as protecting Uzbekistan's natural environment.The museum features numerous different chronologically ordered exhibits which are related to the nature of Uzbekistan and seek to educate visitors about Uzbekistan's geography through time.
About the museum
State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan is located in Tashkent, and consists of about 400,000 specimens and artifacts which are publicly available to visitors. The objects in the archive of the State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan could be divided into parts. Three-hundred thousand pieces of the archive consist of insects that could have been seen in Uzbekistan. Eleven thousand of them are herbarium leafs and other zoological and geological materials. The museum is visited not only by the local people of Uzbekistan, but also by the citizens of post-Soviet Union times.

- Department of flora and fauna
- Scientific department
- Funds department
The State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan organizes many social events in Tashkent, such as giving erections in many of the Republic's schools, academic lyceums, colleges and higher education facilities.
History of the museum
The State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan is the oldest museum in Tashkent, as well as in Uzbekistan. It was first established in Tashkent by Russian scientists on July 12, 1876, and was named the Tashkent Museum. The museum has been closed and re-opened several times. In 1919, it was opened under the name Turkistan National Museum. Two years later, in 1921, it was re-named the State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan by the Committee of Museums and was titled "Main Museum of Nature in Central Asia".
In 1930, the museum was joined with[1] the agricultural museum and received the new name, "Central Asian Museum of Nature and Building power". However, five years later in January, the museum was given its current name, which is "State Museum of Nature of Uzbekistan". In 1937, the museum opened the class room, in which the students of schools were given lectures on Uzbekistan Nature. Between the years 1960 and 1966, there were a number of expeditions to the various regions of Uzbekistan. For its contribution to the development of Uzbekistan in the academic sphere, the museum received many government awards. In 1967, the museum won the challenge of being named, "Uzbekistan's best museum". In 2006, the museum celebrated its 130-year anniversary.[2][3][4]
