Steve Rushton

Steve Rushton (born 30 October 1987, Chertsey, England) is an English solo artist, once a member of the pop punk band, Son of Dork.

Biography

Rushton was born in Frimley Park Hospital in Surrey, England. Rushton was introduced to music by his step father, who was a Elvis impersonator, when he used to bring Rushton up on stage with him to perform.

Mr. Cheerful (2003 - 2004)

From early school years and up to college, Rushton was the writer, guitarist and singer for the band Mr. Cheerful. The band was heavily influenced by artists such as Elvis and Green Day. Their biggest brush with fame was their participation in the UK final for the 2003 Junior Eurovision Song Contest. Rushton was unable to continue with Mr. Cheerful when he was scouted for Son Of Dork.

Son Of Dork(2005 - 2008)

Rushton took part in the audtions for James Bourne's new band, after his Previous band split in 2005. Originally entering to be a guitarist he was asked to be the bassist, which is an offer he originally refused [1]. Their first single Ticket Outta Loserville charted at number 3 in the charts whilst the band were met with mixed reveiws. [2][3] Shortly after releasing Welcome to Loserville, they released yet another single Eddie's Song which charted at number 10 and were featured on the soundtrack to Brit Film Alien Autopsy. There live gigs include The Get Happy Tour and The Sic Tour one of which they headlined. Rushton decided to leave Son of Dork in 2008 after a long hiatus in the band stating "I didn't pick up a guitar to leave it hanging on a wall gathering dust for two years".

Personal Life

Rushton is an open fan of American Rock band, Green Day. On several occasions he has stated lead singer Billie Joe Armstrong is his idol and was one of the key factors of what inspired him to become a musician. In his Son of Dork his appearence even beared a slight resemblance to that of Armstrong but he has since gone through a appearence change in hopes of re-inventing his musical career after Son of Dork. He was also known to be a fan of Disney Films even before his career along side them. He is currently dating Miley Cyrus after the two met on set of her feature film.[4]
