Clarification requested / suggested re "final destination"[edit]

Can the phrase "final destination," toward the end of the lede, be clarified a little, please? Perhaps I am unduly influenced by the similarilty to the title of the Final Destination film series but the wording presently almost sounds as if this is where Basho died.

However, I think the phrase is actually referring to the "final destination" of Matsuo Basho's "Narrow Road into the Deep North". Would perhaps it be correct to say,

"Ōgaki is the final destination of Matsuo Basho's Oku no Hosomichi."

Or does that imply that this was the purposeful planned end of the journey, and is that correct?

Moreover, based on what I understand of the poem's ending, he heads off for Ise Grand Shrine. Is Ōgaki somehow nevertheless considered by convention to be where the trip ended, and the indication of going to Ise taken as the start of something different?

Would it be accurate, or can someone work on something more appropriate, to change the last two sentences to,

"Ōgaki is the penultimate location mentioned in Matsuo Basho's Oku no Hosomichi, and is taken by convention to denote his trip's endpoint. Ōgaki has a Journey Memorial monument and 2.2 km "Road of the Four Seasons" and every November the city holds a Bashō Festival."
