– From 1948 to 1963 this was known as Federation of Malaya. Per Category:1948 by country (and other year by country categories) the name used should be the country name. This is also consistent with the usage in Template:Years in Malaysia. Gonnym (talk) 11:01, 3 August 2021 (UTC) — Relisting.  ASUKITE 15:54, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]

In 1963 until September it was known as Federation of Malaya, so another option can be to split that year. --Gonnym (talk) 21:11, 3 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
  • Comment No objection if using formal state names is preferable, but worth noting that Malaya was the common name for the country at the time, and remains the common name when referring to that period today. CMD (talk) 09:57, 4 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
Comment. "Federation of the United States" is red as I write this, but I've seen it before that it goes blue during discussion. We don't need it, despite having "Federal law" etc in many an article: context disambiguates. 85.67.32.244 (talk) 20:27, 11 August 2021 (UTC)[reply]
