C an we have a section on TV coverage for the CWC?[edit]

09 CWC Squads[edit]

Just created the page for the Squads, took a fair bit of time, but i think all the players are there. I took all the info from the FIFA Webpage, but i have a feeling they may have mispelt a few names.

Official match ball[edit]

I see from the photos and official highlights on FIFA's website that they're using Jabulani as the official matchball. Should this be mentioned in the article?--IJK_Principle (talk) 19:28, 11 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Busquets flag[edit]

Well, isn't Sergio Busquets Spanish? Why his flag at goalscorers is using the Catalonia Flag? Should I change it to the Spanish flag? --GNozaki (talk) 17:23, 16 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think all player flags should be Spanish, as it reflects the players nationality (as on their passport). This is also the case on the FC Barcelona page itself. But I changed the clubs flag to catalan. It is strange to determine a club nationality, but FC Barcelona manifests itself clearly as a Catalan team, of Catalan nationality. Some examples: During all celebrations of won championships, players shout "Long live Barça and long live Catalonia" "(Visca'l Barça i visca Catalunya!"). Recently FC Barcelona president Joan Laporta has come forward as a strong defender of catalan independence. The club emblem contains the catalan flag. No spanish flag will be seen during FC Barcelona matches among their supportes, but many catalan flag will, even including the catalan independency flag (with added star). I think it is therefore very reasonable to use the Catalan instead of the Spanish flag on this page. As a matter of fact, the vast majority of FC Barcelona fans and even opponents will agree that the Spanish flag feels strange in combination with this outspoken catalan team.

This is utterly ridiculous. Barcelona did not enter the Champions League as a Catalan side, hence they did not enter the Club World Cup as a Catalan side. They represent the Royal Spanish Football Federation, not the Catalonia Football Federation, so there is no footballing reason why they should have the Catalan flag next to them. – Pee Jay 18:59, 20 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]
