Move A-League numbers forward one year

[edit]

The general soccer convention is that if you need to categorise a season as part of one year, you use the latter year, i.e. FIFA 12 for the 2011-12 season. In that vein, I think we should move the A-League forward one year, so, putting the 2011-12 figures in the 2012 Australian football code crowds article. - The Frederick (talk) 11:37, 8 October 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Agreed - I wouldn't use a computer game as the basis, but it does make sense. From a football perspective, this article should encompass the 2010-11 A-League season. Ck786 (talk) 00:18, 27 March 2012 (UTC)[reply]

NAB Cup in team list

[edit]

If you wish to discuss whether or not the NAB Cup should be listed in the "Averages by team" list, do so hear. Do NOT just make the changes as you feel. The Frederick (talk) 10:13, 25 March 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Why is the NAB Cup and ACL included, yet Origin and Tri-Nations not? It clearly states "league competitions that are more than 1 game in length". All of those competitions (NAB Cup, ACL, SoO Tri-Nations) should be left out, as they don't provide a true indicator of each nation/clubs average attendence. In addition, there are sections under attendences that are more appropriate for those matches. Eg, Pre Season is pretty clear streight forward representation of the NAB Cup, and Rep matches is the best way to list Tri Nations, ACL and State of Origin fixtures. Otherwise, averages for all the teams in these comps should be included on the team list. Can't have one rule for AFL clubs and one for everyone else (which is what it seems you are promoting)

Use of official names for teams

[edit]

I propose that we use just the official name or official trading name for each club or team, unless that name will easily be confused for another. Gold Coast Suns can just by called by their official name "Gold Coast", for example. The Frederick (talk) 05:09, 4 April 2011 (UTC)[reply]

That is a poor idea. Names used should reflect the clubs geographical name, unless they are more commonly known by their moniker. Eg, Brisbane is associated with the Broncos first and foremost, so the AFL side should be known as the "Brisbane Lions". Similarily, Melbourne Deamons should have first dibs on the name "Melbourne" where the Rebels, Storm, Victory and Heart should go by their full name. With regards to the Suns, they are the newest team (and arguably least followed) on the Gold Coast. Why should they be called "Gold Coast" over the Titans or United? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 120.19.135.180 (talk) 02:57, 9 May 2011 (UTC)[reply]
