300? Really?[edit]

Why is this list the top 300? Wouldn't it be better with the top 100? or Major league players with at least 100 saves?

If that was done then the list would be a little bit more relevant since it would be recognizing something that is fairly legit.

Right now the cut off is 46 saves, if someone is an actual closer they can usually accumulate more than that in 2 seasons at the most.

On top of that, this list is only the top 299 in the first place, not top 300. Someone needs to learn how to count. 216.211.255.98 (talk) 17:36, 22 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hoffman[edit]

I'm not sure what the criteria is, but Hoffman retired as a Brewer. Truehmer (talk) 04:08, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The criteria is which team the pitcher recorded his 300th save with. Hoffman retired as a Brewer, but recorded his 300th save as a Padre. – Muboshgu (talk) 18:11, 17 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Active players in the lead[edit]

Is there consensus to add a sentence noting the four active players with 300 or more saves in the lead. I tried to add one earlier today, but was reverted. It's not like the prose section is overly long or anything. pbp 04:31, 25 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

I would note that many record books have active career leaderboards in addition to all-time career leaderboards, so having this stat listed would be hardly unique to Wikipedia. pbp 22:15, 27 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
