Type style

[edit]

Perhaps I'm missing something, but it's not entirely clear what this article means by "Type style". If someone could possibly add something on that it would make it clearer. --Novus Ordo Seculorum 01:39, 6 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Question

[edit]

"The ALWD Citation Manual is a book and a widely used legal citation system for the United States compiled by the Association of Legal Writing Directors. Its first edition was published in 2000. Currently, it is in its third edition (2005)."

I do not understand how it can be widely used in the legal citation system yet rarely adopted in courts. Perhaps a better wording is needed?

Question

[edit]

"widely used"

In order to make this claim, I think a cite is needed. It is my understanding that Blue Book is the standard for courts, law reviews and journals, and law firms. In order to make the claim that it is "widely used" more documentation is needed.

Hello fellow Wikipedians,

I have just added archive links to 2 external links on ALWD Citation Manual. Please take a moment to review my edit. If necessary, add {{cbignore}} after the link to keep me from modifying it. Alternatively, you can add {{nobots|deny=InternetArchiveBot}} to keep me off the page altogether. I made the following changes:

Articles needs updating

[edit]

ALWD published its 5th edition in 2014 and specifically introduced small caps for academic writing. ALWD's primary divergence from Bluebook had been the elimination of all use of small caps--but with this 5th edition, it has come roaring back. See changes to Rule 1 here: http://www.alwd.org/changes-in-alwd-guide-5th-edition/ Accordingly, this entire article needs revision.
