- This is not confirmed by the next statement, which is about the Domesday Book, less than 1000 years ago. Are you sure you don’t mean 500?
‘There is one pub, The Angel. There are rumours of a tunnel from the basement to the church, 750 metres (820 yd) away.’
- I can remember a long tunnel under the church which we kids explored in about 1958-9. I think we were told it was something to do with the English Civil War. Soon afterwards, it was either filled-in or blocked-off. But I don’t think the pub had much to do with it. Maybe there were two tunnels. Valetude (talk) 23:39, 11 October 2014 (UTC)
